Ashlyna is a daily birth control pill. It’s a combination of Levonorgestrel (a progestin) and Ethinyl Estradiol (an estrogen). It’s an extended-cycle birth control method. That means most people only get their periods every three months while using this medicine.

Other versions of Levonorgestrel / Ethinyl Estradiol and Ethinyl Estradiol include Camrese, Fayosim, Jaimiess, Loseasonique, Quartette, Rivelsa, Seasonique and Simpesse.

* Prescription treatment requires a virtual medical consultation with a medical provider to determine if a prescription is appropriate.

About Ashlyna (Levonorgestrel / Ethinyl Estradiol and Ethinyl Estradiol)

How does it work?

Ashlyna contains 2 hormones that help prevent pregnancy: Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol. These hormones prevent pregnancy by:

  • Stopping the release of eggs from the ovaries
  • Thickening cervical mucus to make it harder for sperm to reach an egg
  • Making the womb unfriendly to eggs by thinning out the lining of the uterus

What symptoms or conditions can it help manage?

  • Painful periods
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Acne
  • Irregular periods
  • Endometriosis pain and inflammation
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) symptoms

What forms does it come in?

Ashlyna is a biphasic birth control pill. That means the pills in each pack contain two different doses of estrogen in them. This is more in line with the natural hormone changes that happen during your cycle.

It’s also an extended-cycle pill, so you’ll probably only get your period every three months while using this medicine. It typically comes in a blister pack with 91 pills that are taken by mouth.

Ashlyna vs. Levonorgestrel / Ethinyl Estradiol and Ethinyl Estradiol

Ashlyna is a brand of birth control pill that contains two active hormones, Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol. Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol can also be found in other birth control pills, Other brands could differ slightly in packaging or formulation.
