You don’t need us to tell you that maintaining a healthy weight can be tricky. But here's what the science says.

First, only about 50% of our weight is within our control—so how much we exercise and eat only gets us so far.

Then, hormones and other metabolic processes change with age, potentially packing on pounds.

Finally, if we’ve dieted in the past and lost weight only to regain it, we’ve changed our muscle-to-fat proportion—not for the better.

The good news?

Prescription weight loss medications can support our best lifestyle efforts, reducing the blood sugar levels, inflammation and hormonal processes that weigh our bodies down. And with Shed It, you get these medications with the support of provider expertise and science-backed optimization tools.

Here’s how it works.

What is Shed It?

Shed It is a holistic prescription weight loss program that combines effective GLP-1 medications with streamlined fitness, nutrition and mental health support.

Other programs may consider total pounds lost as the only finish line. But we crafted Shed It with your whole-body health in mind. That means helping you articulate what you value most in your life—like travel, playing with your kids, or using your body for your work—and improving your health so you can do more of that thing you love.

That’s why we called our program Shed It. Yes, our medical weight loss program will help you shed extra pounds. But it will also help you shed habits keeping you from being your best self—and living your best life.

What do I get with Shed It?

Shed It is a holistic (or whole-body) health program that combines an inclusive program fee and streamlined medication price.

The medication cost includes 4 weeks of prescription weight loss medication and everything you need to take your medication safely at home (like alcohol swabs, syringes, sharps containers and express shipping fees, if applicable).

The Shed It program fee includes:

  • A monthly consultation with a licensed provider.
  • Unlimited support check-ins with medical providers and the Dr. B team if you have questions or concerns.
  • A signature Dr. B instruction pamphlet, dedicated email and exclusive articles teaching you how to safely and confidently inject your medicine at home.
  • Yearly blood work at Quest Diagnostics.
  • A colorful Shed It patient packet loaded with science-backed tips about medication safety, injection instructions, goal setting, action plans and more.
  • Exclusive articles written by health writers and reviewed by Dr. B medical advisors.
  • Weekly support emails covering nutrition, fitness, mental health, financial savings tips and more.

How much does Shed It cost per month?

The Shed It program fee is $145 per month.

The medication price is determined by the medication brand/type and dosage prescribed. It increases monthly only if and when the medication dose increases.

For example, a 4-week supply of compounded Semaglutide at the lowest dose is $98 per month. If prescribed that medication and dosage, your first month of Shed It would cost $243 total.

You can get a detailed look at costs at this Dr. B page.

Does Shed It happen entirely online?

Telehealth laws differ by state. Most patients can take their consultation by chat. But depending on where you live, you may have to consult with your weight loss doctor online via video. We also let you choose to meet with a provider via video consultation if that will increase your confidence in your experience!

Otherwise, program updates and resources are delivered via email. And if you request to talk to a provider during the program, they may text or call until they’ve answered your questions or concerns.

What prescription weight loss medications does Shed It offer?

Right now, Dr. B offers Tirzepatide (the active ingredient in Mounjaro®* and Zepbound®*) and Semaglutide (the active ingredient in Wegovy®* and Ozempic®*).

Both medications help us lose weight by mimicking hormones that affect digestion.

Semaglutide mimics the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) hormone. Tirzepatide mimics both GLP-1 and the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) hormone.

Both medications slow digestion, so food takes longer to leave the stomach. They control how much insulin we secrete, which helps lower blood sugar levels. Some studies suggest they have an anti-inflammatory effect. And GIP may increase overall metabolism.

By mimicking these hormones around the clock, these drugs can help us feel fuller, eat less, have steady blood sugar levels, an increased metabolism, and less inflammation puff.

Along with a healthy diet and exercise, studies show patients can lose 5-20% of their starting body weight in around one year on GLP-1 medications!

Is Shed It run by doctors?

Yes! Licensed medical professionals—including doctors, registered nurses and licensed pharmacists—handle all medical aspects of our prescription weight loss treatment. The Dr. B support team handles the technical side.

Our consultations have been designed by medical pros who follow all state and federal rules and regulations. They only prescribe medication if they review your consultation and decide it is safe and appropriate. Sometimes, they may request more information or time to review your blood work to confirm everything is good to go.

As with any medication, GLP-1 medications can potentially cause uncomfortable side effects—especially in the early days. If you have any concerns throughout your program, you can talk to a medical provider or chat with the Dr. B support team.

How do I know if I qualify?

With Shed It, you can get prescription weight loss medication online if you’re in the US, over 18 and have a body mass index (BMI) of or above 27. Not everyone can take these medications even if their BMI qualifies.

The only way to find out is to start an online weight loss consultation.

  1. You’ll share your medical history, health problems and body weight concerns. You may be required to take a video consultation, depending on your state. Otherwise, your consultation will occur entirely via chat (unless you choose to meet a licensed healthcare professional via video).
  2. A licensed provider will review your information. If you’re approved for Shed It, they’ll send a prescription for four weeks of weight loss medication to the appropriate pharmacy and email you with details.
  3. If prescribed a compounded medication, the compounding pharmacy will ship your medication, syringes, alcohol swabs and a sharps container via express shipping. If prescribed a brand-name medication, you'll pick up your prescription at your chosen pharmacy.
  4. Dr. B will send weekly support emails on medication safety, injection tips, nutrition and fitness and more.
  5. When it’s time to do blood work or take your next follow-up consultation, Dr. B will email you!
