About Dulera (Mometasone-Formoterol)

How does it work?

This asthma treatment combines two medicines that help make breathing easier. Mometasone is a corticosteroid, which helps ease swelling in the airways. Formoterol is a long-acting beta agonist. It helps relax the muscles in the airway. These medicines work together to relieve asthma symptoms like wheezing and chest tightness.

What does it treat?

Dulera is a medicine used to manage asthma symptoms and prevent future asthma attacks. It’s not a rescue inhaler. Although this medication may be helpful if you're having an asthma attack, you should use your rescue inhaler if it is available.

What forms does it come in?

Dulera is inhaled directly into the lungs using an inhaler. Rinse your mouth after using this medicine to prevent an oral infection called thrush.

Dulera vs. Mometasone-Formoterol

Dulera and Mometasone-Formoterol are different versions of the same medicine. Mometasone-Formoterol is the generic version. Generic medications work the same way as brand medications, but they may be less expensive.

How much will it cost?

Dr. B offers online consultations for $15—which is less than most copays. If an asthma prescription is appropriate, your out-of-pocket medication cost will depend on your insurance and where you decide to get your prescription filled. With a drug discount card, prices for Dulera 100 mcg-5 mcg/Actuation HFA (120 inhalation aerosol with adapter) start at $355.46.
